Plate chain
Plate chains are designed for heavy-duty applications. Compared to precision roller chains, plate chains offer a higher strength rating and are well-suited for environments involving high loads and significant impact. Widely used for lifting and stacking purposes, plate chains frequently appear in equipment such as forklifts, crane trucks, pallet trucks, car parking towers, model-container lifts, and freight elevators.

A plate-type chain consists of a stack of link plates and pins. The outer link plates are interference-fitted onto the pins. The pins are then riveted shut to lock the components in place and prevent the pins from rotating. The inner link plates are slidably mounted on the pins. The number of link plates varies depending on the chain specifications.
Plate chains can be divided into two types. One type conforms to the U.S. B29.8 standard, while the other complies with the European ISO 4347 and DIN 8152 standards.
AL Series The AL-series plate chain has the same profile and thickness as the link plates of ANSI-standard roller chains with the same pitch. The diameter of the pins is identical to that of the pins in ANSI-standard roller chains with the same pitch. [Click to view more] | ![]() |
BL Series The BL series plate chains feature the same link profile as ANSI standard roller chains with the same pitch; however, the link plates in the BL series are thicker than those of the next larger-pitch ANSI standard roller chain, and the pin diameters are also larger than those of the next larger-pitch ANSI standard roller chain. Thanks to the larger pin diameter and thicker link plates, the BL series offers higher working loads and improved wear life. For applications involving heavier loads, the BL series is recommended. LL Series · The LL series plate chains feature a link profile identical to that of roller chains with the same pitch conforming to DIN/ISO standards. The diameter of the pins is the same as that of roller chains with the same pitch conforming to DIN/ISO standards. | ![]() |
Port equipment chain · TYC manufactures specialized plate chains and heavy-duty roller chains for port equipment—for example, chains used on forklifts that handle empty containers and roller chains used in rail-mounted cranes. Chains for port equipment typically operate continuously under constant high loads for 24 hours a day.
